Then we put together a plan designed specifically for your organization and the identified priorities. The plan is a written Scope of Work, a blueprint that plays back what we heard, what should be done, and the people, resources, timing, and investment required from both your side and ours. The Scope of Work typically includes a “Go / No-Go” decision after the first suggested milestone. This is a place where you can opt out without any strings attached. If you choose to move forward, we go to work.
The initial step usually involves listening to others in your organization. We repetitively find that people in the organization already have some answers; they are simply waiting to be asked and heard. Sometimes there is immobilization because people don’t know where things are headed; the direction is unclear. In other situations, the answers are being muted because there is distrust, fear, or dissent that impedes individuals from wanting to work together. Our objective is to uncover what’s really going on and address the interpersonal issues first. If these are not solved initially, subsequent business plans or processes will falter.
Once there is clear identification of the current situation, we offer you another choice – we can work with you to address the matters or we can turn the information in written form over to you to handle on your own. We want to transfer knowledge so you don’t need us anymore. We don’t want to be your consultants for life. The best mutual measure of success is: Did you get what you wanted so that you can own it, act on it, and achieve you objectives?
